New Orleans with the Family

So here we are again. In the Big Easy. The only place I know where the wicked witch and her flying monkey (who look like they just came directly out of central casting for Wicked may I add) don't even cause the crowd around them to take a second look. I don't think I was ever bored of people watching in this town.

Help I'm an Instagramaholic

I have my friend Natalie to blame. She introduced me a few days ago to Instagram and I can't seem to stop. It is everything I love about

blogging. A lot of picture and little talk. Nobody really knows how much a picture can say better than me. And this is just my kind of mojo. As if wasn't a mamarazi already, this has taken me over the edge. I think my photo addiction comes from the fact that there are only two pictures of me as a baby in my photo album. One is of me at birth approximately 40 feet away from the camera in my father's arms, with my sister Lourdes sitting on the edge of the chair and the second picture is of me, approximately 5 years old, standing in front of Cinderella's Castle. I feel compelled to take pictures of my children in every bit of their everyday activity no matter how boring and trivial it may seem. So go ahead and Instagram me. I'll Instagram you back. I think that's the lingo for these kids these days. I'm also learning what a hashtag is. And I'm going to hashtag the heck out of everything those kids do. So Natalie I love you thank you for this lesson as well as for teaching me how to blog. You were always the cooler one. #natleilani

We're Still Alive....For Now

Where did the time go since my last post. What I remember is we took a family trip to Michigan only to drive back 13 1/2 hours straight to return the day before school started. I really think that third and fifth grades are my hardest years yet. I have had a planet project, an ecosystem diorama, three book reports, a clay butterfly project, 25 AR points of book read, two social studies papers and oodles of extra credit stuff I needed to get done so far. But, I am happy to report that I am on the honor roll for both grades showing you all that this girl still has what it takes to crush elementary school. Oh yeah, the kids help me too, but I really feel like I can do this on my own most of the times. Actually, I sometimes think I can get things done faster and better if the kids don't help but Mike insists they need to participate in some capacity. Suit yourself Mr. By the Book. When I handed in my skeleton art project, I told the teacher that this was really hard on me. She said, " And to think you have four more fifth graders to come." I think part of my brain melted out the side of my ear. I never really thought it out that far. I may need to let these kids get some of their own work get done.
In reality, both my kids are towing their own. I am there for the hunting and gathering portions of the homework but it really feels like I am the one being graded. And I am sure I am not the only parent that feels that way.
The trips are on fire. They are such different kids but all of them are just adorable. When she is not reading a book, Gigi has learned that if she puckers up and bats her eyes when she is caught doing something wrong, she just might get away with it. Carlos, my Romeo, has decided that in order to go to sleep properly, he needs a complete rub down. Massaged from head to toe with a song, that boy drifts off with a smile on his face. I think he just needs those five minutes of my uninterrupted attention where we look at each other lovingly while I rub his feet and smile at his smirk which tells me, without words, "God, I love you, woman." Beau is our princess. She will bring you an assortment of outfits that she wants on all at the same time. After you put the on, you have to sing her a princess song I invented. She goes into a trance and begins to bob back and forth in a circle like, "Look at me. Ain't I the bomb."
I have their stats somewhere in my room and will list them at a later date but they are really growing and speaking a language that most of us here at the house understand. I think they are well trained too. I say "papas" and they run to the kitchen to sit in their chairs to eat. I say, "paseo" and they run to the door to get ready to go out. I say, "zapatos" and they get in line to put on their shoes and "afuera" they love the most because that is play time in the back yard.

By the way, Michigan was great. We spent the two weeks at the grands lake house and I actually took one week to work. What a joke work seemed like compared to my mommy job. I will never complain about a paid gig if I choose to go that route again. But right now, I am happy to be here in the home mom roll.

How big do my big gins look.

Okay, so I saw these little mermaid outfits and thought, these are so wrong they are right. Then I thought what is a mermaid without a sailor so Carlos got into the act as well.
